Friends vs Buckinghamshire Ladies

By | July 24, 2013

Wednesday 24th July 2013

The Friends played an all stars team of women bowlers from the Buckinghamshire Bowling Association to celebrate 60 years of women’s bowling in Buckinghamshire.

80 years ago, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire united to form a County Association but 20 years later there were enough clubs in Buckinghamshire to form their own Association.

The game was well fought and at one stage there was only a 2 shots difference in the match, but the Friends pulled out the stops and eventually they won by 126 shots to 108 shots.

We were well looked after by the President’s club, Wendover & Chiltern Hills BC who supplied an excellent buffet and evening meal.

The President, Thelma Leslie, gave a resume of the history of women’s bowling in Buckinghamshire in her speech after the match.

An excellent day enjoyed by all.
