Thursday August 27th
12 rinks spread over two greens at the hallowed turf of Leamington commenced a game between the Friends of English Bowling versus a Presidents select team from Bowls England led by their President Marcia Dunstone. A Massive undertaking.
The game was played in a very variable weather situation, rain one minute and glorious sunshine the next.
The Bowls England team had many stars in their side even Tony Allcock MBE the Chief Executive of Bowls England joined in.
There was so much noise and laughing on the greens that I thought the occupants in the houses alongside the green might complain.
The game finished with a win for Bowls England 213 – 186 winning on nine rinks to three however it was deemed a draw as the friends of English Bowling won on E Green and the Bowls England team on D Green.
There followed a meal at the Royal Navy Club (with much thanks to them) a very enjoyable time with like-minded company.
A really fantastic day, cannot wait until next year when we get the chance to do it all again.
