FoEB played St Albans & District Ladies on Wednesday 29th July on a sunny afternoon at Shire Park BC.  The club is in Tewin, a lovely village near Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.  The Celebratory occasion for the ladies led by their President Sylvia Pullen was their 40th Anniversary. This was a particularly special event for me as Captain of the Day.  I have known Sylvia and many of the St Albans ladies for many years as county players and the Association is a sister one to my own Watford & District Ladies BA in Hertfordshire, so I was delighted to be a part of their celebrations.  Shire Park is well known for its hospitality and didn’t disappoint on this occasion either. Club Captain Anne Gunn welcomed us onto the green and handed it over to President Sylvia.  A lot of laughter and banter on the rinks so I think everyone enjoyed themselves in the sunshine. The Friends won 127 – 95 and we had a top rink of Pam Cavill, Maddie McConomy, Mick Skerry and Richard Somerton. Eight counties were represented in the Friends’ team.  Thanks to all who attended and to Shire Park for their hospitality.
