On Monday 23rd May the Friends had their first game of the season against Hinckley Bowls Club.
We were made extremely welcome by all the members. The weather was kind to us and it did not rain. In fact the sun shone for most of the time.
The President & Hon. Secretary Frank Barrett, greeting Match Secretary Adie Lloyd.
The chef, Darrell, made us a wonderful meal of stewed steak, vegetables and dumplings. Most of us had seconds – some even had thirds.
Friends from all over the country came to play and I am sure they were all delighted to have been there.
Captain of the day was Tony Allcock and he made a very nice speech at the end of the meal letting everyone know how much the Friends did for bowls.
You could say that it was a draw as we won three games each. But honesty prevails and I have to admit that Hinckley won on shot difference.
Our grateful thanks to Frank Barrett for organizing such a splendid day for the Friends.
If the rest of the games this season are as much fun as this one then we are in for a great 2016.
