Angela Harris. 10th Anniversary Bowls England President.
40 players and guests made their way to Gloucester on a hot sunny day to play a celebratory match.
We were made very welcome and given tea and biscuits on arrival. Gloucester club house is a lovely building and is set fairly near the centre of Gloucester. The club has three greens, two lawn and one all weather. We played five rinks on each of the lawn greens. At lunchtime we were treated to a lovely buffet (how to sabotage us before we play).
Outside we started with a spider; the nearest to a coin placed under the jack.
Out on the greens we did our best, but they were too strong for us. However there was lots of laughter and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Our after match meal was sausage and mash, well, Gloucester Old Spot and mash actually, followed by a favourite, profiteroles. Speeches were given by Angela, Roger (GS Captain) and Adie Lloyd. Adie then presented Angela with a framed certificate for her 10th Anniversary after her year of being Bowls England President.
Our hosts then presented us with the monies from the spider and the raffle. £320. How about that?
Thank you Gloucester Spa bowlers and friends, and especially Angela for a superb day and your generosity. We could not have had a nicer day.
