The Sun came out at Thirsk BC

wrapped up in readiness

Wednesday 31st May:   The weather was still not playing ball, but towards the end of the game we were so pleased to see some sunshine.   The bowls club at Thirsk was based pretty much in the middle of the race course…  no horses today though!   The green was great to play on, and apart from the consistent wind we all enjoyed the game, with Friends winning overall 105-83.  We had two drawn rinks and two winning rinks..  well done everyone.

Friends were represented by 9 counties, Bucks, Cambridgeshire, Cornwall, Hands, Hereford, Kent, Lancashire, Northants and Wiltshire.

It was good to feel the sun on our faces as we sat down to eat after the game.  We were spoilt with a magnificent after match buffet, and our thanks go to Sue serving the bar, Rod, Anette, Jenny and Janet for their hard work waiting on us.  It was a pleasure to sit down with our opponents, and exchange news.

Paul Robson, our Captain of the Day, was eager to present one of his special ‘wrong bias’ certificates – no names mentioned.  A special well done to our top rink:  Lesley Summersgill, Carolyn Hunt, Adie Lloyd and Neil Fletcher.  After thanking all of the volunteers who gave their time, and energy into making the day the success that it was, Paul presented Captain of the Day with a  certificate to remember our visit.   A lovely afternoon, enjoyed by us all.
