A message from the Chairman

Welcome to the 2016 season

The ‘ Friends of English Bowling ‘ was set up in 2005 to provide support for the sport of outdoor flat green bowls in England. The ‘ Friends’ provide an opportunity for members who have enjoyed the sport to put something back, by providing much needed Financial support for its National Championships and Competitions, as well as supporting development and grass root initiatives.

Membership of the ‘ Friends’ gives a unique opportunity for bowlers to show their support for the sport of outdoor flat green bowls whilst enjoying a number of exclusive benefits – which include an invitation to a Presidential Lunch for each individual member during the National Championships in Royal Leamington Spa.

Members are entitled to apply for ‘ Friends’ matches organized each year, including  two matches on the hallowed turf at Leamington. They are also entitled to enter a members only two wood pairs competition open to either gender on a designated day during the Championships.

Each year members are issued with a shield bearing their name with a second shield for a personal guest to enable them to visit the hospitality marquee provided and meet fellow ‘Friends ‘to chat and discuss the day’s play over tea, coffee and light refreshments.

The ‘Friends ‘ individual membership now stands around the 330 mark, a figure we would like to increase in order to provide further funding for the sport. To become a member there is a joining fee of £10 and an annual membership fee of £100.

For membership details please click on this link “JOIN US“.

The ‘ Friends’ is proud to have raised significant sums of money since 2005 with around £30,000 each year and last year allocated towards the provision during the National Championships of a First Aid Tent, with Air Conditioner and Wheelchair. We also provide assistance with youth development and support of several high profile National Championships and Competitions. All 35 Counties are Association Members and support is allocated towards each county’s expenses associated with the Middleton Cup, Johns Trophy,  White Rose Trophy and Amy Rose Bowl.

Thank you for your interest in visiting our website and in anticipation of you supporting our cause.
